Vinyl/Print Technician

Salary: £12 an hour Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Andy File Associates Limited are working with a full-service digital agency. This is an exciting opportunity for a print, production and finishing technician. We require a hardworking, reliable, and enthusiastic print room technician to work in our fast-paced print department based outside of Sheffield.
This position can also be offered as an apprenticeship with full training available.
The successful candidate will be responsible for print production projects from start to finish. This involves following specifications, meeting specified deadlines, using the following machinery: digital printing presses, large format, and sublimation printers, print finishing machinery and more. There will be an opportunity to assist with signage and installation projects with full training supplied for relevant machinery and accreditations.
Within this role, you will also be involved in the undertaking of large output printing, plot cutting vinyl and heat pressing on to various products in house.
The successful candidate would need to work closely with suppliers and the in-house teams, to ensure that our customers receive a seamless service from us as a business, so communication, organisation and diligence is key.
Responsibilities and duties include:
- Running Xerox dry toner machines.
- Hand and machine finishing, which includes:
- Guillotining, laminating, booking up, stapling, hole punching, creasing, folding, booklet making and digital finishing.
- Operation of Epsom digital printing press.
- Operation of roll fed laminator and cutter.
- Applying vinyl, mounting boards, and large format print finishing skills.
- Offsite installation of all signage products.
- Pack and dispatch print via courier firm.
- Sourcing, creating and fulfilment of direct mail pieces.
- Monitoring and ordering of stock for print room.
- Knowledge of Heat Press machines desirable, but not essential.
- Ensuring that the working area, machinery, and equipment are clean and maintained to manufacturers recommendations.
- Problem solve minor issues to ensure smooth work flow through the department.
What we are looking for in a print technician/apprentice:
- Experience working within the print industry, or you are technically minded to pick up the skills.
- Confidence with working at height (up to 10m).
- Basic PC knowledge, training will be supplied on industry specific software.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standard of print quality.
- Eye for detail and quality.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and conscientious team member.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn.
- A multi-tasker, who is self-motivated and can use their own initiative.
- Practical/manual DIY knowledge would be beneficial.
- A full driving licence.
Advantageous, but not essential
- PASMA and IPAF accreditations.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety working practices.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of some, or all, of the above. Training can be provided. This position can also be offered as an apprenticeship.
