Job Title: PI Solicitor
Location: Sheffield S9
Reports to: Team Manager / Head of Legal Practice
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (office-based)
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
The Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and organised PI Solicitor or CILEX practitioner to join their established team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a fast-track personal injury caseload, handling matters from the point of litigation through to settlement or trial. This role is open to NQ solicitors with 1-2 years PQE.
Working closely with clients, Counsel, medical agencies and other third parties, you will provide clear, practical advice and deliver exceptional levels of client service throughout the life of the claim.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Manage a fully litigated fast-track caseload with minimal supervision.
- Proactively manage priorities, deadlines and court timetables.
- Draft and manage all case documentation including:
- Pleadings
- Application notices
- Disclosure lists
- Witness statements
- Schedules of loss
- Briefs to Counsel
- Trial bundle indexes
- Case summaries
- Accurately value personal injury claims using Judicial College Guidelines and relevant case law.
- Prepare special damages claims and future loss calculations.
- Utilise Part 36 offers effectively and apply case law strategically to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Complete internal processes including defence reviews, witness statement exchanges and authorities to proceed to trial.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, procedural rules and best practice.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of client care, ensuring correspondence and communications are handled within agreed SLAs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and escalate technical or complex issues where appropriate.

Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience handling fast-track personal injury claims.
- Experience dealing with Road Traffic Accident, Employer's Liability and Public Liability matters.
- Experience using the Damages Claims Portal (DCP) is essential.
- Experience managing a litigated caseload through to settlement or trial.
- Experience drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and instructions to Counsel.
- Experience using case management systems, with Proclaim experience desirable.
- Strong knowledge of liability scenarios and Civil Procedure Rules.
- Experience gathering evidence, assessing prospects and providing practical advice to clients.
- Experience building relationships with third parties including Counsel and medical agencies.
Qualifications and Technical Skills
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX with practising rights.
- Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules and personal injury litigation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Confident telephone manner.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work towards targets.
