Finance Assistant

9 month Fixed term flexible 4 or 5 day working week 30 to 35 hours
Salary Circa 24k depending on experience
Location: Chesterfield S42

Job Purpose
The Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Head of Finance in the preparation and maintenance of all financial records relating to the efficient and effective running of the business.
The role supports the business by being responsible for the day to day tasks of the finance function within the organisation
Main duties and responsibilities
- Raise daily sales invoices in SAP Business One.
- Upload sales invoices to customer portals.
- Raise proforma and balance invoices as and when needed.
- Chase customers overdue debts by phone and email.
- Post and allocate customer receipts daily.
- Own the aged debt ledger and review with Head of Finance on regular basis.
- Manage new credit account applications and perform credit checks.
- Reconcile and manage deposits/proforma account.
- Produce weekly delivery report.
- Assist in other ad-hoc finance-related tasks as required.
- Provide cover for other finance staff as required.
- Offer support for reception and the internal sales team if required.
Quality & Continuous Improvement - Maintain quality standards and follow all processes and procedures - Endeavour to generate ideas for continuous improvement on how processes can be amended to improve efficiency.
Health & Safety - Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and highlight any risks to either yourself or others, no matter how trivial.
Essential Skills
- An understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
- Proven work experience as a Financial Assistant / Financial Administrator.
- SAP Business One experience.
- Professional, mature approach to working tasks and building relationships with various stakeholders.
- Proactive with a positive, enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude and an approachable manner.
- A flexible attitude and keen eye for detail analytical skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- A logical approach to the organisation of financial tasks.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Strong computer skills, with a good working knowledge of databases and Microsoft packages.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills – Pivot, Lookups.
- GCSEs (Grade A-C / 4 or above) or equivalent including English and Mathematics.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- AAT Qualification or working towards.
