Design Engineer
£30-340k DOE, Sheffield S6
37.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 07:30 – 16:00, Friday 07:30 – 13:00)
Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to join their dedicated, specialist Design team. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of innovative designs from concept through to production; refining concepts; effective use of styling to delight their customers & improving manufacturability and design efficiency.
With previous experience in a similar role, you will be a self-starter, able to work on your own initiative
as well as part of a small team where everybody’s contribution is essential to our success.

Key responsibilities
• Designing and developing specialist products
• Refining concepts; focusing on styling, function, improving manufacturability and design efficiency
• Prototype building & testing, field testing, problem solving; validation and risk management, 3D printing; surface modelling
• Presenting ideas and designs through a wide range of media, including Adobe Photoshop; Illustrator; Rendering software
Summary
• Working collaboratively with other teams to enhance the aesthetic design of a product, maintaining strong brand management of the clients' finished products
• Producing technical drawings for tool makers/fabricators/suppliers & CAD Models
Key Requirements
You will have an established background in product design and be qualified in a relevant discipline, preferably to degree level. Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous. As an experienced engineer, looking for improvements and new technical solutions will come naturally to you.
You are enthusiastic about what you do, have a positive can do attitude and with adaptability and resilience when under pressure. Logical thinking skills combined with creative flair would be highly advantageous.
Proficient in the use of 3D CAD Software, ideally Solid works. Experience in FEA analysis would be an advantage.
Knowledge of Injection Moulding disciplines; qualification (or equivalent experience) in Polymer Processing and / or Mould Design would be desirable but not essential.
An understanding of medical device regulations and quality systems would be desirable but not essential
