Counter Sales Assistant

About the Role
Our client is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Counter Sales Assistant to join our busy electrical wholesale branch. This is a key front-of-house role, serving trade and retail customers, processing orders, and helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.
You will be the first point of contact for customers, providing product advice, processing sales, and building strong working relationships with local electricians, contractors, and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve customers at the trade counter in a professional and friendly manner
- Process sales orders accurately using the company system
- Provide product advice and recommend suitable electrical products
- Handle cash and card transactions
- Answer telephone and email enquiries
- Pick and pack customer orders
- Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked trade counter area
- Support goods-in, stock control, and general warehouse duties when required
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business
Requirements
Essential:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good numeracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Basic IT skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a trade counter, retail, or sales role
- Knowledge of electrical products and components
- Experience within the electrical wholesale or trade supply industry
- Counterbalance or Reach Forklift licence but training can be given
