Business Development Manager. £45k DOE
Flexible, hybrid role. Field based with 2 days a week working at one of of our clients’ English depots (closest to your home location).
Our client employs more than 2,000 people based at 38 sites throughout the UK and Australasia. In the UK they manufacture up to 7 million new pallets and repair up to 25 million pallets per annum across 15 sites. The pallet and packaging operation benefits from the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the UK, a national distribution network, and offers a complete range of pallets and specialist timber packaging.
Our client is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced salesperson. You will primarily focus on developing new sales business however you will also manage a small portfolio of important customers whom we have long standing relationships with. You will work as part of our sales team, and together will help our client to grow.
You will be based out of one of our clients’ English depots (closest to your home location) and will ideally work here a couple of days each week, with the remaining time visiting current and prospective customers and our other sites. You will report to the Senior Business Development Manager.
Core hours of work are normally 09.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Although, we work flexibly to meet customer expectations.
Main Duties
- Developing new sales channels.
- Managing a portfolio of existing customers, developing these relationships, and maximising opportunities to strengthen partnerships.
- Travelling within the UK (Midlands and Southeast) to visit existing and prospective clients in-person.
- Creating and implementing a business plan to maximise sales and always deliver excellent standards of customer service & support.
- Preparing tenders and negotiating contract terms.
- Monitoring customer ordering performance.
- Maintain complete and accurate customer records.
Key Skills
- Previous experience of a proven sales performance and the ability to achieve targets.
- A positive influencer, with excellent selling and negotiation.
- Ability to work both independently and contribute to a team.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as strong written skills.
- Competency in Microsoft applications and CRM practices.
- Good administrative, organisational and time management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
This role would suit someone from a packaging sales or building supplies background with experience of new business development.
The package
- Salary – up to £45k, although this is dependent on experience.
- Bonus – up to 10% of salary, based on company and individual performance.
